Martha Matilda Harper
Martha Matilda Harper (1857-1950). Canadian-American entrepreneur & inventor built an int'l network of hair salons. She was sent away by her father at age 7 to work as a domestic servant. She worked for 25 years before she saved enough money to produce a hair tonic she invented, then the creation of special hair salons that utilized it. She began franchising the salon model to low-income women & by its peak the company included more than 500 franchises & an entire line of hair care products.
Colin Mochrie was born (1957) in Kilmarnock, Scotland. In 1964, his family moved to a French neighbourhood just outside Montreal, Quebec, and five years later moved again to Vancouver, BC. He is a Scottish Canadian actor and improvisational comedian, most famous for his appearances on the British and U.S. versions of television improvisation show Whose Line Is It Anyway?
