I don't always design maps from scratch. Sometimes people ask me to update their existing maps. In this case, the cartographer who originally designed it and updated it for many years was no longer doing it. So Zadel Realty contacted me. I georeferenced the existing PDF and created layers, then added the new subdivisions and streets, and updated the street index. #mappyMonday #cartography #maps

The DOXA Documentary Film Festival runs May 5-15. For the past few months I've been working with director Ali Kazimi to create a base map and dozens of overlays showing Sinixt territory and surrounding band claims. His film, "Beyond Extinction: Sinixt Resurgence", starts streaming on May 5. I saw an early screener with placeholder maps, and it is a beautiful film! Here's a photo of a project from last year - a poster map for Beach Vibe Sales & Rentals in Carlsbad, California. They rent golf carts and e-bikes and wanted a map to show areas where people can use those bikes/carts, and also to highlight some recommended stops as people explore these beachfront communities. The QR code on the map links to a version of this map in the Avenza Maps app. #tourism #maps
