We describe feelings and emotions, and for animals these particular definitions do not exist. Is resentment something that exists for an animal, for example? No, resentment is unknown to the animal kingdom.
Yelling never works. You can be intensity without saying a word and that will create change. Intensity has no judgement, it is just an energy and it does not linger. Being totally present with an animal can be that intensity.
If you haven't defined the job for your dog, your dog has to come up with the definition. Has your dog decided, that protecting you means no other dog gets to come close to you? You may want to fire them from that job and then re-define it for your dog exactly the way you desire it to be.
