My husband drags logs into flowerbeds or areas that we are beginning. Sometimes they act a nurse logs, like this one and we end up with a new tree or they decompose and feed the soil.

Native plants like viola Canadensis and geranium quickly take over a spot that meets their demands. This also means less expense when one plant trns into twenty.
