Rideau Canal.  Spent a few weeks travelling from Ottawa to Kingston and back by boat.  There are a lot of locks... but they are all unique and very pretty.  A must see!

The Ottawa Locks are the first of 45 locks lockstations) on the 202 kilometre mile) Rideau Canal. The Ottawa Locks are framed by Parliament Hill on one side and the Fairmont Chateau Laurier hotel on the other.

Instead they ordered a peaked metal roof, one of the first wrought-iron roofs in North America (wrought iron construction was the Architecture of the Future in the Victorian era—think of the Crystal Palace or the Eiffel Tower). The doors are also made of iron, though they look like wood.
