2015 $3 Coin for 50th Anniversary of Canadian Flag
Feb. 15 was the 50th anniversary of the Canadian Flag, and to celebrate the Mint issued a commemorative coin emblematic of the semicentennial.
Totem Pole carved to commemorate residential school survivors. Commissioned by Tseshaht First Nation. The Pole resides in Port Alberni where the residential school used to be. Pole designed and carved by Tseshaht artist Gordon Dick with the guidance of Tim Paul and assistance of Erich Glendale and Alex Spence. Canadian, Al Gross invented the walkie-talkie in 1938. In 1948, he pioneered Citizens' Band (CB) radio. In 1949, the very first telephone pager device was patented by Al Gross and used by the Jewish Hospital in New York starting in 1950. These were not consumer units. Al Gross' device did not win FCC approval until 1958.
