This is how the former HMS Upholder, now HMCS Chicoutimi finally came to Canada. On her first try under power she had a fire that killed one Canadian sailor and injured numorous more. Her sister ships were sucessful in sailing under their own power. All required extensive retrofit once to Canada and took nearly a decade to reach operational status.
