A longer nap can give us parent some "me time" or "catch-up time" but 45 minutes may be all your baby needs. However, anything less is not classed as a "real" nap and you should try and get your baby to go back to sleep. As your baby gets older and they start taking fewer naps, they should start to increase to an hour or more.
Happy Birthday Canada! Here's a few tips for all you Moms and Dads. 1) Everyone like to stay up late and watch those fireworks but remember the later you put your kids to the bed the harder it will be to get them to sleep. 2) Block out all those party noises with a white noise machine. #dohm is my personal favourite. 3) Remember the most important part about bedtime is the routine. Especially after stimulation! Be safe and goodnight!
Sleep is just as important as eating healthy. This goes for all ages! During sleep your body's energy is restored, tissue growth and repair occur, blood supply to the muscles increase and your immune system strengthens. Don't feel guilty about getting the sleep you need!
When we first had our daughter many people would tell us to keep her up late so she'd sleep the whole night through because she'd be so tired. This is not true!! An overtired baby will not sleep better. It will only lead to early am wakenings, shorter naps, taking a long time to fall asleep, and many night wakings. Often clients are amazed at how much their baby sleeps after sleep training all because they are not overtired.
Try to keep your toddler in a crib until 2 years. This gets them past their 2 year leaps and regression. For help on keeping your toddler in their toddler bed you can purchase one of my sleep packages for a sleep plan.
This works really well with older babies. Another important thing to helping them sleep in longer is get them to bed earlier. Sometimes the biggest thing is they're getting to bed too late. #bedtime #sleeptips #sleepconsultant #serenesleepsolutions #sleep #toddlers #babies #babysleep #toddlersleep #serenesleep #earlywakings #naptime #sleephelp #sleepingbaby

It can resolve as early as 2 weeks. Make a point of keeping active, increasing the noise level and lights on during the day. At night do the opposite and have a small bedtime routine to help them recognize sleep time is coming.
