This weekend, Lego Dan and Dot have been camping in Mid Wales and Dan has been told that late September is a great time to go swimming in mountain lakes. On closer inspection however, he is beginning to wonder about the honesty of those making that claim and suspiciously, Dot has decided not to join him in the water. It‘s a good thing that Lego man anatomy is stripped back to the very basics, otherwise he may have had further cause for complaint.
Dampness, Perpetual Dampness: So Lego Dan and Dot haven’t made an appearance in a while. This is partly because Dan‘s been really busy and partly because it’s now autumn in Wales and autumn in Wales means rain. Even when it’s not raining its constantly damp, a dampness that turns normally abrasive rocks into the slipperiest surfaces known to man. This afternoon they managed a quick walk in the local hills and inevitably, just moments after this photo was taken in fact, they got a good…
Stop and Search: Lego Dan and Dot were just passing through London, on their way to sunnier climes, when they were accosted by the local constabulary. Apparently, being in close proximity to the London Eye laden with climbing equipment is enough to raise 'reasonable suspicion' that one's intentions are to climb said tourist attraction and thus trigger an official Police Stop and Search.
A kick up the backside: Following a recent visit to Bristol's Avon Gorge, Lego Dan now realises that it might be time to address his lax training regime and love of chocolate biscuits. Dot on the other hand, had a lovely time... as her camera can testify.
Time for Change: Having recently been shamed by his lack of physical fitness, Lego Dan has decided to engage in a more rigorous training regime. So out comes the trusty pull up bar, much to the amusement of everyone else.
Extra Protection: Owing to the dangerous profusion of loose rock at Llyn Brianne, Lego Dan and Dot have decided to supplement their usual complement of nuts and cams with some unorthodox extra protection.
My other hobby: I've come to realise that my hobbies of rock climbing and Lego are not necessarily mutually exclusive and what better way of combining them than through a bit of photography? I’d like to introduce my little Lego avatars who will be joining me on my adventures. The handsome chap on the left is called Dan and the beautiful lady on the right Dot; stood between them is their semi-obedient mutt, Suzie. Hopefully they’ll be enjoying a busy summer on the rock!
With a few days off and no climbing partner to climb with (Dot must work, he he he), what's a Lego man to do but take his dog for a walk on The Black Mountain? The headgear is probably a bit over the top, but then again, he's not known by some as Dyspraxic Dan for nothing.
