She believed that it introduced political and social change, and set the foundation necessary to end the cycle of violence in Aboriginal Communities which has existed for decades. It demonstrates a true commitment to social justice by acknowledging social injustices of the past.
I interviewed my uncle in regards to the addition of 'sexual orientation' to Canada documented Human Rights. He expressed how this addition allowed his life to be validated and supported by the country he called home. Although sexual orientation has conflicted with the Catholic and Conservative values Canada has adopted in the past, this major political and social change reveals our commitment to social justice for EVERYONE in our pluralistic society.

It also symbolizes our contributions as a peacekeeping country and our beliefs on international security.
