@MarkHess98 RT "ASCD ‏@ASCD Apr 2 "Kids who believe they're headed somewhere behave differently than kids who believe they're headed nowhere." -@PedroANoguera" GROWTH MINDSET. I cannot reiterate enough how important this is in the 21st century. Our students are going into a competitive, globalized world, that is ever-changing. They are never going to have all the information or know everything in the world. Students need to keep learning!

Marci Augenstein ‏@MarciAugenstein Apr 4 "Something worth considering. We certainly do learn from our failures. #wleced @ASCD @WalledLkSchools @MarkHess98" In my classroom failure is going to be viewed positively!! In order to incorporate 21st century literacies into the classroom, failure is going to have to be okay!! If we want our students to be connecting to the real-world and be active citizens, they need to know that making mistakes is a part of life!

"Mark Hess ‏@MarkHess98 Apr 4 Love the #ASCD16 Conference Daily! The piece on Dweck's work is excellent. Good job @ASCD" Educators must be aware of their own lived curriculum and hidden curriculum and be aware of the biases that they bring into the classroom. If ed.'s are not treating mistakes as positive, if they are not giving feedback,& if they not understanding that their values shape how students learn, they are not being 21st c educators!

“Love the Conference Daily!

@MarkHess98 RT "Lisa Oliver ‏@Principal05 Apr 3 The poorest students with growth mindset perform as well as wealthier students with fixed mindset. -Dweck" This is so important !! Education needs to change because traditional education fostered fixed mindsets, which is the false idea that intelligence is fixed and no matter how hard one works they cannot improve at all. GROWTH mindset is 21st century. We can always improve, our potential is limitless. Growth mindset leads to success!!

"Dakotah Cooper ‏@dakotahcooper Feb 15 A4: looking directly at standards is a good place to start and then design backwards using music that matters to your Ss. #musedchat" This is so important for a 21st Century educator! Incorporating 21st century literacies into my curriculum will be done by backward design and intedisciplinary curriculum! This means that I will synthesize 2 or more subjects and examine a central issue with the class! In order for students to truly becoming engaged!

If not, why not" This is such an important aspect of being a 21st Century Educator!! connecting with other professionals and sharing resources and ideas is crucial! You cannot be a 21st century educator without connection and collaboration!
