Deep breathing is important for children who are dysregulated and can help them to calm and soothe. Deep breathing helps get more oxygen into the bloodstream, opening up the capillaries. It has a physical effect on your child’s body, helping them to calm and lower stress. Try ‘The Wind Storm?’ activity with your children. How to play: One person breathes in deeply and blows their breath in the direction of their partner. The partner pretends they are being blown by the breath.

Our game for the week is The Family Turtle Tower.🐢🐢🐢 We always play this game with another grown up on the side, ensuring that there are no accidents and make sure our space is cleared of any objects. • Larger bodies should be the base and smaller bodies on top. • They pretend to go inside their turtle shell. • The next person carefully climbs on top of their back and also pretends to retreat into their turtle shell. • Finally, the smallest person carefully climbs on top (with the help of another adult) and retreats into their turtle shell. • There you have a happy turtle tower.
