Use spools of thread for hooks on the wall to hold all kinds of stuff. Great for a sewing room. i like it as a necklace holder....or coat rack. I have lots of old threads, too weakened by time, to sew with, I could do a whole rack of these on a board, and use it anywhere. They could be sealed first to make sure the color of the thread won't run if used for anything wet, like towels.

Hi everyone. I was going through some of my mom's sewing supplies the other day looking for thread. I found an old wooden spool that still had the 15 cent label on it. I thought it was so cute, I had to make something with it. I remembered a post I did 5 years ago with a spool of thread and an eye bolt. Original old paper advertising 'toy' from Coats & Clarks thread... this is a two piece cow, with a front and back designed to be fastened to either end of a wooden spool. We've included a vintage thread spool here, but have only propped everything together for the photo, not glued anything together. The paper cow stands about 2 3/4" tall, and shows a little age and wear, as does the thread.
