It has been an amazing winter on the South Shore of Nova Scotia, with little snow and temperatures consistently above the norm for this time of the year. And strange things occur when the balance of nature is disrupted this way. It was a warm day in early November when I took this photo of a monarch butterfly on St. Catherines River Beach. One could speculate that the monarch was either blown off course during migration or the warm temperatures had prolonged his stay in the province…

Fresh water from an inland spring at Kejimkujik Seaside Park. The water is amazing, like no bottled water you have ever tasted. The dogs love this part of the trail, time for a dip and drink.
