The color of the yarn that I used on this shawl reminded of the black beaches on the island of Santorini in Greece. It is a triangular shawl knit mostly in stockinette stitch with a lace border and looks beautiful whether it is worn as a shawl or a scarf.
The mild winter set is a quick knit, in worsted yarn, yet the fabric is not heavy. It’s perfect for when the snow is soft and the wind carries the scent of trees waking up and the promise that spring is just around the corner.
Inspired by some richly toned Handmaiden Casbah yarn, these socks were created to do justice to this lovely yarn. I wanted a pattern that was as voluptuous as the Casbah itself. For me, that means bold, stunning cables that capture the eye immediately.
