Sketchbook Work - stealing a moment.
Truly a mixed media painting using several mark making materials, acrylic paint, ink and also collage. I enjoy collage but don’t do it nearly enough. It’s all the sorting of paper that gets to me. Maybe I’ll figure that out one day as I do like a challenge. Positively Uncanny - 12x12 on my website
Ascent. This one took a while to get here. Idea after idea, pivot after pivot, push after push. Then finally, the finishing touches. Super pleased with the results. This piece will soon be available on my website. Subscribers get first dibs so if you’re not on my invite list, there’s still time : )
Super excited that this piece was scooped up by a collector! It’s such a unique piece for me and I just love it. Changes = time. It’s taken me a while to nick into this roll of canvas. Been thinking about the logistics, my approach, my intentions, then finally diving in. I’ve also found a new use for my holey socks! They’re perfect for pushing charcoal around on this big piece of canvas. Even though it’s taken a while, I’m appreciating what gets figured out when willing to push outside my comfort zone but also take time to process. New horizons, lighter sock drawer!
This is one of my most favourite “hello there gorgeous!” paintings lately. I learned a lot from this painting, most importantly from the epiphany that arrived with one single move. And the rest followed like angels on its wings. Available soon on my website but not til I glean everything it wants to tell me : )
New work. After last night’s fantastical thunder & lightning storms, it feels fitting to share this new work on paper. We had lightning all around us for several hours and at one point the rain & hail sounded like a fire house was being held on the windows. This piece feels just as dramatic.
So pleased that this piece ‘Reach - Full Range’ sold over the weekend. I was organizing a Virtual Tour to show the painting to a potential buyer when this very same piece sold to another from my on-line store. One of those unique & crazy situations that happened once before. This painting was awarded Honourable Mention in the On The Edge International FCA Exhibition. Both parties are happy though as the painting heads to the coast to the new owner and the Virtual Tour will still go on to
Sometimes I lose a painting when trying to improve it. And sometimes I restrain myself just enough to risk but also keep my eye on the prize. The final edits on this piece came slow & steady with much pondering in between. This painting is finished. I learned what I came here to learn on this one and love where it ended. Final Conclusion 24 x 20 Soon available on my website.
Have you ever made a painting that creates opposing feelings in you? Meant To Feel It Small mixed media work on 300lb watercolour paper I’ve named this piece as such because I love it and contrastly, it also makes me feel something. A bit of discomfort for the right reason.
