25 Standalone Books To Read After Series Burnout (teens and adult books) I can vouch for American Gods and Eleanor and Park. I loved Marcus Zusak's The Book Thief. (I can vouch for none, but I'm keeping this pinner's tag for future reference).

This book was pretty good; the entire book is straightforward and rushed. You could tell the author was not a writer; which gave the book even more authenticity to it's storyline. Very quick read.
