This wine cooler, depicting bacchanalian scenes, shows Minton's popular majolica technique. Majolica was similar to the Italian renaissance maiolica which inspired it; made from earthenware and covered in an opaque white glaze which was then painted freehand, often in styles which echoed or copied original Italian examples.
