German photographer Killian Schoenberger has utilized moody landscape and old stories of his childhood homeland to create a series of photographic illustrations inspired by the fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm. Shot in remote rural areas of Middle Europe dominated by images of haunting fog, gnarled trees and dark homes you hope are abandoned. His exemplary work as a photographer is made even more impressive by the fact that he is colorblind.

Dark Hedges, Ballymoney, Ireland. This beautiful avenue of beech trees was planted by the Stuart family in the eighteenth century. It was intended as a compelling landscape feature to impress visitors as they approached the entrance to their home, Gracehill House. They are reputedly haunted by a ‘Grey lady’. Two centuries later, the trees remain a magnificent sight as they form an arc over the road and have become known as the Dark Hedges.
