The Aubin Trophy which was constructed by famous locksmith Charles Aubin for The Great Exhibition of 1851. Nicknamed ‘the wedding cake’ it is 3 feet high and composed of 44 different interwoven brass locks with corresponding keys which can be turned individually or simultaneously by the large key at its top.

Here is an automaton from 1582. There is little detail from the site I found it on, but it has "trumpeters and drummers", which I can only assume played some tune as the figures moved in some fashion. This is what I would classify as a "clockwork" more than an automaton; there were many elaborate clocks, the Kingly predecessors of the common "cuckoo clock" we think of today, though not all such things were designed to tell the hours and minutes of the day.
