Cause and effect puzzles, printable passages with questions, and photo hunt activities to help primary students practice identifying cause and effect. Activities can be used as cause and effect literacy centers or whole class activities in second grade or third grade.
Printable versions of each activity are now included, along with TPT Easel activities for the cause and effect passages.
Here's what you'll find inside:

Cause and Effect Puzzles - 15 cause and effect puzzles are included. A recording sheet option is included, or you can make them self-checking by using a permanent marker to place matching colored dots on the backs of the matched pairs.

Cause and Effect Passages - Students read a one-page passage and answer four cause and effect related questions. Two fiction passages and one nonfiction passage are included.

What’s That Cause? Photo Hunt - Tape these photo cards around the classroom for a scoot-style game, or place the laminated set in a bin at a classroom center. Students will look at the picture on the card and read the provided sentence. On the recording sheet, they will record a possible cause for the situation shown.

What’s That Effect? Photo Hunt - Set up is similar to the above activity. Tape photo cards around the classroom for a scoot-style game, or place the laminated set in a bin at a classroom center. Students will look at the picture on the card and read the provided sentence. On the recording sheet, they will record a possible effect for the situation shown.
A bonus mixed practice recording sheet is also included for the photo hunt activity.
