THEME SONG: Good Times -TRVIA: Esther Rolle left the show after the 1976-1977 season due to her displeasure with the what she saw as the character of J.J. being a bad role model for young blacks. She returned at the beginning of the 1978-1979 season after the producers guaranteed that they would make J.J. a more respectable character.

Gomer Pyle was great especially when Jim Nabors went from his Pyle voice to his incredible singing voice.  Jim Nabors said that it was always difficult for him to watch the opening of the show because many of the men that he is seen marching with were killed in Vietnam.
