Doris Salcedo (various works) / US Customs (In 1995, four sculptures by Columbian artist Doris Salcedo were destroyed by U.S. Custom Service officials at NYC’s JFK airport. Pieces of the sculptures - which consisted of furniture molded in concrete - were hammered off as the custom officers searched, unsuccessfully, for narcotics. The sculptures were en route to Pittsburgh’s Carnegie Museum, which filed a claim for the damages with the federal agency.)
