I found several examples of a tab + button closure at the center front of 18th century bodices, so I did the same thing. Especially in combination with the "zone front" shape I saw this. Underneath the tabs I made a lacing closure. You can cover this with the ends of a neck kerchief. The tabs are hand finished with a binding. The buttonholes are welted by hand.
