Hospitallers - very strong look while quite simple to do.
Hospitaller knights marching, Dutch reenactment group "de Hospitaalridders"
Infantry c 1510
My recreation of a Brother-Sergeant whilst on campaign. Brothers wore a black or brown Cappae with a white cross on the chest, over plain linen under garments. In colder weather or whilst on the road Brothers also wore a plain black mantle, again with a white cross on the chest. A rope belt girded the waist and Brothers had to cover their heads at all times – in their case with a coif and straw cap. Equipment examples date from between 1180-1230AD.
