Waterfalls at Waipio Valley, Big Island, Hawaii. A site that not many people see unless they go the extra mile to get there. One can either hike down and hike inland into the valley or view all the different waterfalls via helicopter tour.
Kilauea, the active volcano on the Big Island of Hawaii is often referred to as the "drive-thru volcano." Hawaii's volcanic eruptions are not the blow the top off variety. Lava's been steadily flowing from Kilauea ( the world's most active volcano) since
2-step beach; one of my fave places in Kona to snorkel; you can see Pu'uhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park. "Place of Refuge at Honaunau." You LITERALLY take 2 natural built-in steps in the lava rock, then *PLUNK* into the warm water you go! SCUBA would be good there too; plenty of cavernous reefs below.
