House blessing plaque in handcrafted pewter with gift box

House Blessing Plaque ~ Reminiscent of the traditional Jewish mezuzah holder hung on a doorpost to symbolize God's watchful care over a home, this wall hanger is designed by California artist Cynthia Webb

Mezuzah (Hebrew doorpost) is a piece of parchment (often contained in a decorative case) inscribed with specified Hebrew verses from the Torah. These verses comprise the Jewish prayer "Shema Yisrael", A mezuzah is affixed to the doorframe in Jewish homes to fulfill the mitzvah (Biblical commandment) to inscribe the words of the Shema "on the doorposts of your house". The parchment is then rolled up and placed inside the case.
