Lock, Stock, and History

(Revised description) The faceted butt was clearly inspired by an Ottoman prototype, however that bend could be nothing other than Central Asian. The roundness of the stock by the lock is purely Persian or Central Asian, and the lock is either N. Persian or Daghestan work. So, lots of interesting characteristics conflated by available parts, and the creativity of the stock maker, but the embellishment is what defines it: It was made either in Bukhara or Mazar-i-Sherif. Dates in the 1830s-50s.
