Geometrical Inc. & Rambod Radmard is raising funds for Pocket Tripod: wallet-sized iPhone stand on Kickstarter! The world's first iPhone stand that can articulate to any imaginable angle, and can transform to the shape of a credit card.
The Pocket Tripod is only truly functional with the iPhone placed in it, to syncronize both swivel pieces and add stuctural rigidity. Every aspect of the Pocket Tripod has been designed with the iPhone in mind. The constant cross-section of the iPhone's edges allow for a universal compatibility of it with the Pocket Tripod on any of its four edges in either direction.
The Pocket Tripod re-arranges the finite material of a thin card into a structure, which makes it exponentially stronger at countering the forces applied to it. The result is the beautiful geometries that make the pieces of the Pocket Tripod, which derive their forms from their functional purposes.
Strategic extrusions and cavities have been placed on each pair of parts that are in contact. The geometries of these extrusions and cavities are derived from the motion of each piece in relation to its counterpart, to let each pair of parts snap into place only when brought close enough to their intended preset positions.
The innovative open-barrel design of the Pocket Tripod's hinges allow for the pins to have the same diameter as the thickness of the Pocket Tripod. This lends to deriving the most strength possible from the available volume of material; as well as flexibility, which is required for the mobility of the pieces during transformation.
The unique radial sliders of the Pocket Tripod allow for fine adjustment of the iPhone's tilt angle. In fact, it let's the user adjust the tilt angle of the iPhone uninterruptedly within 90° sweeps. This in combination with the universal edge compatibility of the iPhone with the Pocket Tripod results in 360 degrees of tilt angle adjustment.
