Everyone in the Netherlands is entitled to equal treatment. This right is considered so important that it is enshrined in the Constitution. Article 1 of the Constitution contains that in the Netherlands in situations involving equal circumstances all people have to be treated the same way and it is forbidden to discriminate.

Dutch writer Marga Minco (98) received the P.C. Hooft Price. It is a literary prize in the Dutch language area. This oeuvre prize is annually awarded (alternately) to Dutch people for prose, essays and poetry. At Secondary School her works were on our reading list. Find more about her novels in the link. 💞🌍🌎🌏💞
Dutch author Godfried Bomans (1913 The Hague -1971), is arguably Holland’s best humorist author. His comic style makes use of irony & hilarious archaism to parody genres like fairytale, melodrama, biography & detective. As president of the Haarlem Branch of the Dickens Fellowship, Godfried Bomans visited the UK on many occasions. Today, 30 June is Veterans day. In The Hague the past efforts of Dutch military personnel will be commemorated. And the efforts of military personnel now, who are engaged in peacekeeping operations in different parts of the world, will also be commemorated. Although I am a pacifist, I need to respect people who have other opinions. 💞🌍🌎🌏💞
On 30 January 1648, Spanish and Dutch representatives signed the Munster peace treaty. For the Republic this represented more than just an end to the Eighty Years War, it meant a definitive recognition of national sovereignty. Yesterday, 19 August, the annual Prinsengracht concert took place. The Concertgebouw Orchestra plays on a stage erected on the waters of the Prinsengracht canal.
