Still Waters is a new oil on gallery canvas abstract seascape. I wanted to share the calm and dreamy feeling I get from being near water. When I was painting this I had visions of long summer days at the lake. The sparkles of light literally dance off the water. It is quite captivating. I love to watch koi swim and interact with the pond plants, water and light. Watching them flow and move, with their vibrant colors and whimsical fins, is like a dance and moving art. To me koi are dreamy and calming.

I was especially focusing on the light in this piece.

As with most of my work this painting has a vibrant color palette, thick texture, and an impressionist feel.

Interestingly, Koi fish are traditionally symbolic of prosperity and good fortune. Pond Plants, Glimmer, Impressionist, Starry Night, Color Palette

This painting was conceived when my still life arrangement started to wilt. I thought how amazing, that to me, they still retained their beauty, and would be the center piece for my party. This is my abstract painting of my favorite hiking trail, Cascade Trail, in the Blue Mountains. On this trail you hike up, and up, until you finally reach the top, where you feel as if you can touch the sky. Looking down everything is so small. A lighthouse looks like a speck. The towns are all laid out before you in grids, orderly and neat, but here, on Cascade Trail, you feel far away from civilization.
