Can I share with you why I loved teaching my students about artist, painter, and sculptor Michael Craig-Martin, and the learning objectives of the workshop? 🌈My students were able to understand how to look at objects from different viewpoints and the importance of composition. 🌈My students were able to understand the of basic colour theory. 🌈My students were able to produce a contemporary work of art in the style of Michael Craig-Martin.
four different colored cans with the words star soup written on them
We can’t even begin to tell you how many Andy Warhol Soup Cans🥫we have seen in the last three months. However we never get tired of seeing how the students add their own creative spin on the step-by-step directed activity. Such as the name of the soup, or the colours they choose. 🎨 The use of imagination or original ideas are always mind blowing, and strongly encouraged. This is why students continuously need to be creating, because art truly matters. ❤️
this is a drawing of different things in the shape of bags and vests on colored paper
A teacher asked me "How can I extend your Andy Warhol and Pop Art lesson with my students?" We said; "Have the students choose an item or food they enjoy, and use the same techniques we taught them in the Artist In Residence / School Workshops to create the art work"

Pablo Picasso
Pablo Picasso is one of the most revered of the famous artists featured in our art lesson plans for students. Picasso was experimental in his approach to art, often painting a common object or person from lots of different angles in one picture. This is called cubism.

school workshops
The Campbell's Soup Cans seem to be pretty popular in the last two weeks. 🥫This afternoon I am virtually exploring #PopArt and #AndyWarhol with the grade 6 students of St. Gerald Catholic School, for our Artists in Residence Program with the Toronto Catholic District School Board.

school workshops
Today I am virtually exploring #PopArt and #AndyWarhol with about five grade 6 classes. Why do we love AW so much? Aside from him being known as one of the most influential artists who ever lived, but... Personally, I love that had a very particular personal style. AW had a shock of white hair and was usually seen wearing a lot of black, leather jackets and glasses or sunglasses. AW dressed up and experimented a lot with his personal style.

Happy Easter
Happy Easter from all of us at Raising Artists ✝️🕊️ Such a beautiful work of art in the process of being created. This photo was taken at our last (in person) School Workshops with St. Simon's Catholic School before the 1st lockdown. We painted the stations of the cross for the grade 7's and 8's 🎨♥️
