The zipper- a Canadian invention. Yep, every single time you zip up your fly, you can be thankful that a Canadian came up with something other than the multiple buttons used before :P

Zippers were invented in 1851 by Elias Howe, who also invented the sewing machine. It was called the "Automatic Continuous Clothing Closure" since it would hold to ends of fabric together.
