You're not likely to find little Prince Edward County listed at the top of Canada's tourist sites. The quaint, rural Ontario county is somewhat of a secret destination for travellers from across Ontario, Montreal and New York state. There probably isn't a straight road in the county but there are nearly 40 wineries and dozens of galleries, studios and culinary treats. For a popular destination which includes the famous Sandbanks park, the county is amazingly unspoiled.

Historic Wall Northport 2 This is an existing historic dry stone wall near the area where the Sixth Town Workshop was held in 2007. The wall is at least 150 years old and runs up a steep hill and through a farm meadow. It can be found on the south side of County Road 15, about a mile east of Northport in Prince Edward County. Lovely flat stones were used to construct this well built dry stone wall which has now become obscured by trees and brush.

John A. Macdonald, first prime minister of Canada, lived for three years at Glenora, where his father operated a grist mill. Later the family moved to Kingston, but in 1833, Macdonald returned to the Picton area to take over a law practice for his ailing cousin, winning his first case at Picton Court House.
