Marie of Romania (born on 29 October 1875) was Queen consort, as the wife of King Ferdinand. The couple's 2 youngest children, Ileana and Mircea, were born after Marie met her long-time lover, Barbu Ştirbey. Historians generally agree that Ştirbey was the father of Mircea. The paternity of Ileana is uncertain, as is the paternity of her second daughter, Maria. Ferdinand's paternity of the 3 other children, has not been disputed. Marie also gave birth to a child who has disappeared from history.
