Aerial view of Ottawa 1920
Shows part of the core near the Chateau Laurier, Rideau Canal, Sparks St. The turreted building, centre right, is the City Hall, destroyed by fire in 1931. The former Post Office is near the bridge and was demolished for the construction of the War Memorial. Across the Canal from City Hall are the train sheds of Union Station.
The Roxborough Apartments in Ottawa opened in 1910 (on Laurier St.) and were considered prestigious, offering a view of the Rideau Canal. Mackenzie King lived there from shortly after they opened, until 1923. His mother stayed with him at the Roxborough during most of the last year of her life and it was there that she died.
