RZLBD / Houses
Selected houses designed by Atelier RZLBD. #rzlbd #dwelling #house #home
rzlbd > Instar House > main elevation > The evolution of design was based on a clear distinction between two main volumes which are both stretched east-west: a larger one in grey that contains all the served spaces; and a smaller replica in black that accommodates all the servant spaces. In order to maintain a sense of autonomy all the major glazed openings on the larger volume are connected and the exterior of this modest monolithic mass is rendered in seamless stucco.
rzlbd > Charcoal House > The randomly patterned square windows on its façade and the hidden entrance door at the corner of the building are elements that not only make it difficult to associate the building with a single family house, but they also trick the eye to an extend where the scale of the house is distorted and one might not be able to guess the number of floors inside.
rzlbd > Patio House > Being located in a corner lot, the building maintains a presentable façade for the residential street while controlling sun exposure from the west. This strategy has been achieved by inserting a dynamic series of linear windows in the white brick façade and extracting a box from the monolithic geometry to create the patio.
rzlbd > Thorax House > Main elevation: Instead of making a visual splash, the exterior of this modest monolithic mass is rendered in grey stucco. Exceptions are two light-weight structures made of black aluminum as canopy and guard at the entry. The only accent is the red signage designed specifically for the house.
