The impact music has on people is massive! Music lyrics and the tempo can make people achieve anything they put their mind to. This concept is first introduced in chapter 8. Daniel Levitin studied how music could relate to cognition. He discovered that while listening to music it increased the amount of antibodies, sterotion and oxytocin, which have a significant impact on the human brain.
20% of all Canadian will experience a mental illness throughout their lifetime. Depression is a significant mental illness that makes it hard to be happy and function through a normal day. As of depression people take "pills" to try and make their selves happier. Here is a picture of a large number of pill boxes that a normal person can purchase off the shelf of a drug store. As discussed in Chapter 5
In Canada, 1 to 8 percent of the people have an eating disorder. People can go to the extent by making them selves starve or overeat on junk food. This picture represents a lot of poor food choices that is not good for your body which can cause people to fell self conscious about their body. Food like this has a negative impact of our bodies which could cause people to fell self conscious and that could lead to more eating disorders. As discussed in Chapter 8
Prejudice is about forming an opinion before you become aware of the relevant fact. Many people may have thought that my family owned a black mustang convertible when actually we had to rent it in Florida because our car broke down. This was discussed in chapter 8.
Sport teams are all about conformity. Trying to exceed the coaches expectations by changing your thoughts, feelings and behaviour. This was discussed in chapter 8
The environment that a child is raised in greatly impacts his or her life. As a child growing up in Ottawa, surrounded by sport teams and positive, influential people I decided to participate in a sport I soon realized that I loved. In chapter 5 it describes the impact of watching cartoon television characters and if the person enjoys the TV character, he or she may pursue watching that character in other shows.
Achieving your goals, as discussed in chapter 5 can be quite difficult. Many people have a dream or a goal but their methods to succeeding that dream or goal is all different. A check list is how I succeed my goals. Short term goals are the easiest, they get progressively harder to complete as the more time is involved.
Hereditary, the ability to genetically pass down physical characteristics as well as personality as discussed in chapter 5. Hence the reason why many people call my dad and I "twins". We have the same eye colour, hair colour, height, smile and the same personality.
