Isle Royale - My wife said as we were sailing out from Thunder Bay. "All I want to see on this trip is a moose." When we arrived at the dock there were three waiting for us as we came ashore. We then went for a walk up the trail. I don't have a telephoto lens. Who do you think was more surprised?
Now how about this cool shot - from our second vessel out across the water we see Frodo with full sail, big waves and a rider on the pulpit. Its a comfortable ride because we are reaching downwind. In the background is Isle Royale.
Lake Superior is so full of little nooks and crannies to keep your boat safe when the winds whip up the big waves. Here in Horseshoe cove a 40 ft boat "Frodo" with a 7 ft draft is cozy and safe. You can step right off the bow of the boat onto shore. And there is a little fire pit for telling ghost stories of ships lost at sea - or in this case Lake Superior.
Every year, Lake Superior Magazine publishes readers' picks for Best Local Store, Best Restaurant, Best Lake View, etc. Citizens from each state and province that border Lake Superior can submit their choices for one or all of these cate.
