Some saw depression, self-esteem problems, aging, affairs, others said emotions like embarrassment, sadness, or shame. "Is she going in or out?" they asked. I painted "Get Back In Your Shell" ~pastel http://www.facebook.com/PowerChickArt because every Senate Republicans voted against an equal pay bill for women on 4/9, only one day after President Obama took executive action to try to narrow the gender pay gap. After visiting the Long Neck Tribe in northern Thailand and seeing the "beauty" custom of having women and girls wear permanent brass rings disfiguring their necks, I realized how our beauty habit of wearing stilettos is similarly disfiguring. I painted and titled this one "Stiletto Habit". Do you dress for fashion or comfort?
