When this team was conceived for the city of Baltimore, they originally named them the Colts. Problem was, even though the NFL Colts moved from Baltimore to Indianapolis, the NFL filed a law suit with the U.S. court of appeals and stated that they owned the name of Colts and the historical facts associated with the former Baltimore Colts of the NFL and that the CFL couldn't use it. The CFL was forced to re-name them the Stallions.
