This learning event was open-ended, with the tray being available to the children over the course of several days. Sometimes, they played in two’s and at other times, independently. When possible, I would encourage pairings between our older toddlers and the younger ones to foster mentoring in the classroom and learning of ROOT SKILLS in all 5 DOMAINS

Remember our sunflower heads? A little update. We used some of our lovely sunflower seeds in a simple open-ended craft. Squares of cardboard were given to the toddlers as a creative surface and they decorated as they please with the seeds, corn and some pretty cuts of paper that they had painted and sparkled. They look beautiful on our wall. My wonderful co-worker cut out some birds from a magazine and they surround the children's work!
