Works For Me: Teaching a Child To Hold a Pencil

I cannot take an ounce of credit for today's little tip--my son's preschool teacher taught it to me years ago. It's such a good one, I couldn't keep it to myself. You probably know how hard it can be to communicate to a child exactly how a pencil should sit...

Place a Skittle on each correct punctuation mark ( one or two if they indent a paragraph). Skittles are the great motivator! Classroom Boggle- for kids who finish early! First off, I LOVE boggle! Secondly, this is an awesome way to keep kids busy if they finish early and it would be easy to change some letters at the end of each day or the next morning! What a great idea! Polka Dot Letters

While making a Boggle game bulletin board {idea & printable Boggle form found here at Create*Teach*Share} I needed some cute letters and didn't have any. So I created some fun polka dot letters that I thought I would share. I used red polka dots to match my room but have tons of other colors of polka dots. So if you'd like me to make them with a different background- just let me know! Red Polka Letters

Reading Genres Poster - I like the concept of this, but the choice of colors is confusing. I think I'll make one for our grade genres that makes a bit more sense. I'd like the students to be able to place the "pencil" similarities as well.
