I have a new cup design called the @ezpzfun Happy Cup that is perfectly sized for older toddlers & preschoolers at 8oz! It has the same safety features as the Tiny Cup & the Mini Cup + Straw-Training System, such as the interior angle to decrease choking. It also has sensory bumps & a curved angle on a longer training straw. Once your child learns how to successfully drink from the straw, flip it over to reveal the "advanced" side, which has no curvature & no sensory bumps. Cheers!

Want to know how I encourage kids to “beat the heat” in feeding therapy + focus on swallowing? Squirt Guns!🔫 That’s right! I fill up squirt guns with infused water + gently squirt my kiddos in the mouth with it. I also squirt some into my mouth, too + show them how fun & delicious it is. Next thing you know, they’re opening their mouths + squirting it independently! Give this a try & see who the coolest parent on the block is! (It’ll be YOU!) And how cute is this shark squirt gun? #MsDawnSLP
Looking to incorporate more fruits and vegetables in your child's diet? Encouraging them to “DRINK a rainbow” can be a fun technique! I start slowly with my hesitant eaters by making “rainbow water” the 1st step to tasting a NEW flavor. Then I can move on to rainbow smoothies & then fresh fruits, veggies & herbs! To set up this fun activity, you need: 1. Glasses with water 2. Colorful fruits/veggies to represent the rainbow (watermelon, orange, pear & mint) 3. Rainbow colored eyedroppers

Do you have a kiddo that needs #sensory support to decrease anxiety at mealtime? Then you are going to LOVE the @ezpzfun Mushroom Sponge because it suctions to the table (or high chair tray)! Clinically, I use it with kids that have tactile defensiveness with new foods or are extremely sensitive to touch. If you have a kiddo struggling with picky eating, it might help them too! #MsDawnSLP #pickyeater #toddler
I had such a great time talking with Jill Castle on her podcast. I shared tips for teaching babies how to eat (and drink) a variety of foods, and we dove deep into developmental milestones too. I also provided my expert tips on picky eating and how parents can quickly “take a step back” and reassess their picky (or sensory) eater. Go listen to her podcast for these tips and more! I can’t wait for you guys to check it out! #MsDawnSLP

Try this easy recipe: ▪️ 1 large banana (ripe and frozen) ▪️ 1 handful of frozen mango chunks ▪️ 1 handful of kale (spinach or swiss chard) ▪️ 1 handful of pineapple: fresh or frozen ▪️ 16 oz of coconut milk (or milk of choice) What is your favorite smoothie recipe for you and your little one? #MsDawnSLP
Did you know that the @ezpzfun Mini Utensils include both a toddler-size spoon and fork (with sturdy nylon heads)? Your tot can now master scooping and piercing in style! I designed this utensil set for toddlers 12+ months to help them make their feeding milestones. Check out our friends @chefmbhamel and son Eammon (13 mons old) rocking out his mini fork! Look at those mealtime skills! #MsDawnSLP #minispoon #minifork #toddlers
“Modeling” is an instructional strategy in which a therapist demonstrates a new skill, and the child learns by observing. I take it a step further by allowing the child to practice on me before trying the new skill on themselves. For example, I will “model” how to clear my mouth from pocketed food, then I have the child clear my mouth. THEN we practice having the child perform that skill in their own mouth. This can help decrease anxiety and help the child master the concept.
Want to know how I encourage kids to "beat the heat" in feeding therapy and focus on swallowing? Squirt Guns!!! “Huh?” That’s right! I fill up squirt guns with infused water and squirt my kiddos with it. I also squirt some into my mouth and show them how fun & safe it is. Next thing you know, they’re opening their mouths and just drinking it! It's so much fun! Give this a try and see who the coolest parent on the block is! Did you know that sensory play is an important step in learning to eat for both babies & toddlers? Some children are anxious about unfamiliar foods, and sensory play provides them with some much-needed relaxation when faced with the overwhelming sensory experience of new food. Smashing, squishing, poking, and rolling the food can provide stress relief as well as teach them how that food might feel in their mouth (and they just might try it!) Learn more about sensory play on the blog I wrote.
Have you seen the Mini Utensils I invented for @ezpzfun? They’re designed for toddlers (12 months+). Their heads (spoon bowl & fork tines) are made of rigid nylon, making them strong enough for your toddler to scoop + pierce easily! In addition, the soft silicone handle is similar to the Tiny Spoon, which will help your toddler smoothly transition to these larger Mini Utensils. Has your tot transitioned to the Mini Fork and Mini Spoon yet?
