How to set a quilt or block on point

Here are the formulas and instructions you need for setting a quilt block on point.

I like progress............

The Marcia Derse fabric Drunkard's Path top is finished. I decided it won't have borders. It ended up at 48.5" x 69.5". It is mostly scraps from cutting this quilt with only a few extra fabrics added. I made a slight miscalculation on how many small squares I need. I must have figured only a single row instead of a double row. In any case I need another 63 small fussy cut floral squares. I don't mind repeating fabrics. Some people making this quilt have used all different fabrics for every…

Rainbow Scrap Love

My second Shattered Rainbow quilt is finished, and let me tell you- I could not love it more. Although it is very close to the original, as the creator of both, there are a few differences (that may only be apparent to me). The biggest difference is the gray section. On this quilt, the grays make up nine blocks of the quilt. Only the center block is completely gray (with a trace of black). The other blocks around are a mix of gray and one other color. Each section of color is connected to…

Crumb quilt - flimsy

My Crumb flimsy is almost finished, it's in 4 pieces, but I thought I would post pictures since holidays are here and it is getting pushed aside. Quilt is 68”x88”. I ended up using the blocks with the Disappearing 9 patch. Got this idea from Steelscraps.blogspot.com from her Magic Crumb Scrap Quilt. My blocks are 8”, used 4 ½” strips. I sewed almost half the quilt together using the 4½” strips, then cutting the blocks, turning blocks A & D, then sewed the 4 blocks together. I thought…

Irregular Triangle Foundation - Tutorial - susies-scraps.com

Irregular Triangle Foundation – Tutorial

Irregular Triangle Foundation Piecing - Tutorial So many quilters have used this technique before me. Using a foundation is a way of being able to utilise even the smallest amount of fabric. This can be following a pattern, like with paper piecing or like with 'Crazy Quilting', where small pieces of different size and weights of fabric are sewn together in a random or crazy or 'crazed' style, to eventually become one block. The pieces are either carefully pieced to fit together or pieced…

Paper-Piecing Tutorial

O.K. First, let me just say that I just realized that I only posted twice last month! I'm really embarrassed. I really have been thinking about posting, but have just been trying to get some things done around my house. Like, oh I don't know, maybe some...laundry...cleaning...projects...cooking...MY PATTERNS...Halloween costumes. That kind of stuff. I've had a few set backs with my patterns, but am really thinking next week I'll get them back. I'm so close. So stay tuned. I'll be doing some…
