Marie Rollet, her husband Louis Hebert, and their daughter Anne were the first French family to settle in New France. This statue depicts Marie with her three children - Anne, Guillaume, and Guillemette. Marie Rollet and family were the only ones to remain permanently in Québec from 1629 to 1632 or 1633 , during the British occupation of Canada by the French-English pirates/adventurers, the Kirke brothers.
