I drew a lot of inspiration about design, colours and crafts from Pinterest when I was planning our wedding (June 3, 2012). I wanted to share the more "handmade" aspects of the wedding since a lot of people's care and work went into making it a really personal and lovely day for my husband and I. I hope someone else can draw inspiration from it too!
Jeff and I are HUGE tea lovers. We really wanted to share some of our at-home favourites with our guests and luckily the venue allowed it. We paired each tea with a cupcake flavour (these are all from the excellent Davids Tea http://www.davidstea.com/) : Vanilla with Fantasy Island or Earl's Garden (black), chai with Forever Nuts (herbal) and chocolate with North African Mint (green). We love you, DavidsTea <3
For part of our ceremony, we decided to plant a wedding tree (ok, by "plant" I mean symbolically put dirt and water in and by "tree" I mean lilac, because they are awesome.) It was fun and unique and I got to put on gloves - not gardening gloves like I originally thought but my great grandmother's fancy gloves, which were equally cool :)
My grandpa has been carving birds for decades. I asked him if he could make me 2 small robins for cake toppers (our theme was "Two little birds") and he was happy to :) These little guys are sitting in a nest above my bed now. They are perfect.
Another awesome cupcake shot :) I made up labels for all of the flavours - vanilla, chai and chocolate zucchini. We also decorated the stand (it's one of those cardboard cupcake stands you can find around the internet).
Another amazing friend baked all the cupcakes and wedding cake for us - as well as handmade all those icing roses (so much work!) We decorated the cupcakes with doily cutouts/sealed with stickers and they looked (and tasted) lovely.
