Taken in Nain, Labrador on Dec 30th, 1927. This 1927 Model T roadster pickup is affectionately known as Labrador’s first snowmobile. It had skis in place of its front wheels. It was brought to the Big Land, in 1927 by Donald B. MacMillan, an American explorer. It was used to gather firewood; to travel to towns in the region like Nain; and occasionally to give a lift to the Inuit and Innu people. “Great excitement upon our arrival in Nain,” he wrote on Dec. 30, 1927.
