Iqbal Masih (b.1983, d. April, 16, 1995) was a Pakistani child who became the symbol of abusive child labor in the developing world.At four he was sold into bondage by his family, to pay for his brother's wedding. Iqbal's family borrowed 600 rupees (about $12) from a local employer who owned a carpet weaving buisness, and in return, Iqbal was enslaved to work off the debt. Escaped at age 10 and freed over 3,000 child slaves and spoke out against child slavery. He was murdered.
