How to Fight for Joy in the Middle of Suffering - Trisha Mugo

Suffering is the stone we so often stumble over in this walk of faith. Even atheists might believe if life really did work out the way the diamond-clad, TV preachers say. When Trusting God Doesn't Come Easily - Trisha Mugo

I have a love hate relationship with Proverbs 3:5-6. God’s Word, I adore, but I’m not great at trusting. Oh how I want to live out its beautiful simplicity. How I’ve pined for God to direct my path all these years. But lately, I just can’t help feeling mocked by this verse.

When Envy Distorts Your View of Yourself and Others - Trisha Mugo

I’ve never been the jealous type. If you buy a new house, I won’t covet your hardwood floors. I’m thrilled for you if you own a stunning wardrobe. It might be hard to believe, but I’m happy to see your vacation photos. Sure I wish you would have taken me, (I AM human) but I love to see God bless people. Maybe I thought I was impervious to jealousy. I was wrong.

Mom kept the gritty green soap by the sink for dad to scrub the grease out of the creases of his hands. Tractor grime and machine oil made a home in his fingernails. As a child, I would watch his pocket knife scrape the black from underneath his nails. I had a holy moment today. Not quite a take-off-your-shoes-you’re-on-holy-ground moment, but almost. You’ve probably had your own God-epiphanies. Youre wondering how your faith dissipated so quickly and why you find yourself mired by constant self-doubt. I want you to remember this. You are called. You are capable. You are loved. So youve lost a week or so. Dont lose the whole year! Remember

How to Simplify Prayer - Trisha Mugo

Neck-deep in mom hood, I can’t even pee by myself, let alone crawl onto the floor to pray without a little boy hopping on my back wanting a ride. How you pray or the posture you take matters little, but kneeling or lying prone seems to nudge my heart toward full surrender. Today, praying comes in quick spurts while washing dishes. I seize another few minutes while folding laundry. But sadly, I have fewer and fewer of these altar moments my life so desperately needs.

How to Turn Your Complaints into Expectations - Trisha Mugo

I don’t have enough time to write. My husband doesn’t help out enough around the house. Write? Ha! I can’t even spend two seconds thinking without my children interrupting. My complaints simmer on the back burner of my mind, a ready meal of pity when needed.
